Terry Crowley has 37 years of successful management and development experience. Prior to establishing the firm in 1985, he was Director of Development for Metropolitan State University (St. Paul/Minneapolis, 1980-84), and Executive Director of Oneida Education Center (St. Paul, 1974-79). He has built and directed efforts that have realized many millions of dollars in corporate, foundation, small business, individual, and public support. Terry also has been an active volunteer on boards and committees of several nonprofit organizations; he is a member of the Board of Directors of Mano a Mano International Partners, and past board member of Helping Hand Health Clinic, Givens Foundation for African American Literature, and Charities Review Council of Minnesota.
Nancy White has been a part of Crowley, White & Helmer since its inception in 1985. Currently, she is responsible for management of the firm’s office and business matters. Nancy works with consultants to ensure prompt response to client needs, as well as working with clients on contractual agreements and adjustments. Prior to her work at the firm, Nancy worked in administration for New Connection Programs, an adolescent chemical dependency treatment program. Nancy currently serves on the Board of Directors of Family Alternatives and Mano a Mano International Partners.
Tony Helmer has been working with nonprofits in the Twin Cities area for 12 years, the last nine as a development consultant for the firm. Tony started his work in the nonprofit world as the Campaign Coordinator for the $7 million People Serving People (PSP) Capital Campaign in downtown Minneapolis to create a new home for Minnesota’s largest homeless shelter for families with children. As a result of providing excellent service to our clients since 2002, Tony became a partner in the firm in 2007. At Crowley, White & Helmer, Tony has experienced how the altered landscape of philanthropy has greatly impacted human service agencies and their capital needs. In response, he has helped develop strategies to guide nonprofits as they consider their facility options for the future. In addition to his work at CWH, Tony serves on the boards of The Link and The Mac Carkhuff Foundation.
Karl Sevig, Development Consultant, began working with Crowley, White & Helmer in this capacity in 2008. Karl successfully coordinates campaigns by providing our clients with high-quality written materials, monitors activities and timelines, and communicates effectively with potential donors and clients. Beginning in 2005, Karl provided research and support services to our clients on a part-time basis. Karl holds a J.D. degree from the University of St. Thomas School of Law.
Sean McGee began working with Crowley, White and Helmer, Inc. in 2011 as a contract research and grant writing consultant, before being hired full-time at the beginning of 2012. Prior to coming to Crowley, White and Helmer full-time, Sean worked as the Communications and Development Associate at the Minneapolis-Hennepin County Office to End Homelessness, and as the Communications Coordinator at Greater Twin Cities United Way. He has broad knowledge of nonprofit organizations in the Twin Cities, particularly those focused on human services, and substantial experience in assisting with the coordination of large scale social justice initiatives and nonprofit programmatic and capital projects.
Melanie Bethke, Administrative Assistant, joined Crowley, White & Helmer in 2004. Melanie brings years of experience in office administration to her administrative support role at Crowley, White & Helmer. She has worked for both large corporations and small private firms in varied positions such as office manager and project manager. Melanie works to provide high quality documents for our clients.
